A Second Spin: Biking Across America

Mike Cohen may be crazy. He’ll admit it.

He’s also quick to tell you crazy people change the world.

Mike Cohen speaks at Dine and Dash

When Mike was 18, he was diagnosed with leukemia. During the 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy, Mike also survived congestive heart failure, a pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia. The doctors told him that he wouldn’t live. Today Mike is 27 and has been cancer free for 6 years.

Some people might celebrate with cupcakes or a weekend getaway, yeah, umm, that’s not Mike’s style.

He decided to form cool organization to help cancer survivors called A Second Spin. Oh yeah, and he decided to ride his bike from San Diego to New York. No big deal, right?

Well, Mike stopped by our Dine and Dash event a few weeks ago, while on his epic journey, and we talked to him about his story, his mission and the fact that he might just be nuts.

And, by the way, Mike completed his cross country journey last weekend. Awesome job Mike!
